Looks like the problem is the opposite - not enough inventory in the CPQ pipeline. If you had read a little more carefully from the article you posted, you would have answered your own question -
The computer maker, rebounding from inventory problems during the first two quarters, had reduced levels to about 3.5 weeks on June 30. But successful sales out have created shortages in some server lines, a Compaq official said. He would not speculate on which models or the length of the delays, but one source close to the company estimated shortages as much as eight weeks.

Where do you get the 30 weeks? I thought we were at 3 weeks in the channel and 6 weeks mfg inventory, but it looks like servers are 0 in the channel and 0 in mfg inventory...
