*shrug*

Basically, I take the view that it's easier to ensure your financial security for the long term if you take care of your tools (professional ethics) in the short term. So far I've been proven right.

Forget about MIT credentials <g>, did y'all see my name in lights as one of the hundred free 6 months of SI to new members? Wow. My only concern is there were probably about 102 who took the time to email SI for inclusion in contest. As to ancmnt. after close tomorrow, wouldn't it be weird if # and CC really brought no sig. movement in price since preannc. said it all?

AMAT traders just can't ever seem to leave this hurricane of an issue alone, though. It's always earning that bulging 2.5 Beta. If price moves up over a 1/2 Tues. I'll probably play a two month out option straddle and just watch for more roller coaster fun. Soooo tempting to just play the puts here without the hedge, but that's what got me in trouble last time ;(
Also will be interesting to note if Ben's Max-pain number is found on the 21st.

Damn, I'm more nervous than a Mafia bookkeeper, even with the preview out.

One last comment on the subject of ethics. I was thinking about why full disclosure isn't enough, and realized that one's financial interests could affect decisions about where to place a story and whether to write it at all, as well as the slant of the story itself. (Particularly for higher-level, mostly self-managed editors like myself.)

And, obviously, if the story doesn't appear or is buried so deep that no one can find it, then there's no opportunity for readers to learn that the (non)writer holds the company's stock.

These values are awfully tempting, though. Anyone got a favorite beaten-to-within-an-inch-of-its-life sector other than semiconductors?
