All -

As long as we're on the subject of Compaq Presarios . . .

I just spent some time on the Compaq web site, looking over the Presario line. The line has been completely refreshed with new models introduced since I last checked about two weeks ago.

The 2254, 2255, 2256, 2510 and 4910 models, priced from $899 to $1099, are using AMD K6 processors, and do not have Zip drives standard. However, external Zip drives ARE available as add-ons. They are not listed as upgrade options, they're in the peripherals section.

Monitors are also optional on most of these models.

The 5015 and 5020 models, which are $999 and $1099 respectively, include Intel Celeron processors, and also have no standard Zip. Again, you can get an external Zip as an optional peripheral.

All of the Presario models which have Intel Pentium II processors have Zips built-in as standard equipment. This includes the 5030, 5032, 5035, 5140, 5610, 5612 and 5630. The prices for these systems range from $1199 (after a $100 rebate) to $2799.

I hope the completeness of this information makes up for my earlier erroneous post. ;-)

Allen, good to see you back.

Isn't is amusing how whenever the "unmentionable one" posts to correct an error, he always has to give a little whine with it?

e.g.

<Of course, if an Iomega Bear would have made such a grievous error, it would be painted as a "lie.">

Waaaaaaaaaa!

Though he no doubt knows that most everyone here believes his posts have a greater than even chance of being deliberately untrue, he pathetically tries to generalize it to "Iomega Bear". No, "unmentionable one", not any Iomega Bear, just you. It's hard to argue with empirical averages.
