MER, however, is holding well. I could try to catch it at 83, then 85, and my order is still open... Of course, this may be in reaction to news reports that a German bank is interested in PWJ.

tippet, thanks for the bank stock note. I did notice that NB hasn't been looking too good - testing its 200 day today. With banks falling while bonds are strong, could this be another hint at recession?

I doubt many of the younger generation understands the side
effects of a major market crash. It's not just hard times;
it can produce some very ugly turmoil.

A case can be made for the 29 crash having a lot to do,
with leading the world into all the turmoil of WWII.
With modern weapons being what they are if something like
that spins out of control again, what will be left of mankind
"if anything" could be tossed back to the stone age.
