DiviCom Gets DirecTv Nod
Milpitas, Calif. -- DiviCom Inc. said Monday that it will supply digital compression equipment for DirecTv Inc.'s new Los Angeles Broadcast Center.

DirecTv already uses CompressionLabs Inc. technology at its Castle Rock, Colo., uplink center.

The new LABC is expected to be fully operational in the second quarter of next year, and it will offer redundancy to the Castle Rock Broadcast Center, as well as supporting new business opportunities, DiviCom said.

DiviCom will supply its "MediaView" encoders, "MediaNode" multiplexer and "MPEG Media Toolkit" to DirecTv.

A DiviCom spokeswoman said the new compression technology will be compatible with existing Digital Satellite System receivers in the field.
