Dirk and All,

NT4 supports intellimouse and smooth scrolling just fine. I use the logitech mouseman+ with NT all the time to do what you describe....

Last point, stability was never an argument for me..and i think this argument doesnt hold anymore. AFAIK, NT lost its perfect stability when Microsoft switched from NT 3.51 to 4.0

I think you need to get your head examined. :) Technically and in reality NT is more stable than 95/98. They certainly did open the opportunity for more crashes by letting the video driver run in executive mode, but NT is still far more robust....

fast boot time & ultra fast shut down

Why is this is an issue if your OS is stable??? a Real OS make take longer to boot but how often are you rebooting????

FAT32

www.ntinternals.com has FAT32 support for NT freeware (read only) and shareware (read write versions)....

- the device manager
- installation of hardware is very easy

Totally Agree....

- Intel Application Launch Accelerator

Total Marketing Fluff.... waiting for an app to load is so neglible in the grand scheme of my computing life that its noise. Its certainly clever and geewhiz but utter waste of resources. There are plenty of real problems that could be addressed.....

Sean

I've just converted to NT4. This may seem like a dumb question, but how do you perform a scan disk or defrag on NT4? I've formatted in NTFS for this installation. Are there programs out there that have to be purchased for these functions?
