Mr. Miller,

>>I can't recall who brought up the issue of Secure Socket Layer(SSL) technology before<<

I believe that would be me. ref #reply-5388633

I would like to add that it does not have to be on a Netscape Server, even though it is Netscape's technology. I run a SSL server using Webstar. The technology also uses a Digital ID certificate which you get from a company such as VeriSign, that authenticates you for who you really are. They do background checks etc.

There are many web sites available that explain the complexities of SSL technology for those who are interested.

Regards
Sandbag

PS An example of non-Netscape server software running SSL and a brief explanation of it's encryption.

Internet casino's and other electronic gambling operations haven't been around for very long, but they have become very large and they promise to become much bigger. We can only estimate what the future of on-line betting will be.

There are currently several internet casinos that are in operation world wide and they offer numerous gaming options. These different options include, but aren't limited to: traditional casino games, keno and lotto, andon-line sports betting.

Many people are weary about the transfer of funds and credit card numbers over telephone lines and other mediums, and people should be weary. There are ways that others could get a hold of this information and use it to their advantage, but most of the on-line gaming institutions have several payment options, and safeguards for the security of funds .

A huge concern facing the on-line gambling industry is the legality of the businesses that they run. This is due to the fact that the world wide web covers the globe, and these gaming institutions cross the boundaries of virtually all of the countries and states of the world.
