RALEIGH-DURHAM, N.C. (Aug. 12) BUSINESS WIRE -Aug. 12, 1998--Cisco Systems, Inc. today announced that it has purchased additional land in Research Triangle Park (RTP), North Carolina, that could accommodate nearly 2,000 more employees in future years.

The company has purchased 70.5 acres at Davis Drive, bringing its total land to more than 170 acres, at Davis Drive and Kit Creek Road, south of Interstate Highway 40. Cisco purchased the land for the ability to grow in RTP. The company has no immediate plans for construction on this site.

"Research Triangle Park, with its top talent in telecommunications and networking, has been an excellent location for Cisco's East Coast headquarters," said Selby Wellman, senior vice president of Cisco's InterWorks Business Unit, which is based in RTP. "This land acquisition is one of the many steps we are taking to prepare for our continued growth and we're very optimistic for the future."

Cisco estimates that the new sites could hold three buildings and about 2,000 employees. Cisco currently employs approximately 820 employees in RTP, out of a worldwide total of about 14,800.

Cisco currently has four buildings on its RTP campus. The company began occupying its fourth building on Aug. 1, 1998. Two additional buildings are currently under construction so that Cisco can accommodate 2,000 employees in RTP by the year 2000. About Cisco Systems

No, many reasons. Service is one, but Cisco's will have to scale their service model in order to meet the huge demands that come with the Voice market. We'll see how well that works. I was just pointing that out, because most people talk about the battle of the technologies, but no one is talking about the battle of the services. This is where winners, really differentiate themselves. Anyway, good luck to you.
