Zeev -- your paranoia is astounding!

<< the management . . . have announced this buy back to create a nice rally (in my opinion, the stock will not exceed $.5 on this move) to allow the floorless to go for another round of shorting. >>

So what you're saying is -- management is conspiring with the floorless holders, buying shares so the "floorless bandits" can get more short?

You aren't merely paranoid, you're a parody of paranoia.

Take this action for what it is: A statement by management that they aren't desperately short of cash. Perhaps also it's a warning that anyone shorting HEC might get squeezed by management itself.

Anyway, I guess this pokes holes in the argument that HEC could never exercise its option to redeem the floorless for cash.

Meanwhile since, as you've assured us, you never actually get short yourself, you can't actually be losing money today. So take it light!

Joe

Its called buying stock cheap. Raise millions by issuing stock around 6 buy it back at 4 when you are now trucking oil and drilling your most promising field . We can also add in now is the time to buy oil cause it will go up in price this fall, winter.

Zeev,
I am beginning to understand your "hangup". As you accused one person of "being in love" with the stock, and inferred it was causing a blindness to the facts, I believe you are in love with your own feelings of notoriety you think you have for "coining" a term you call "floorless".
Now I don't doubt that such a critter exists (floorless, that is), but your problem is that you overlook the obvious in order to promote your notoriety. It is becoming very evident with your posts. I guess that's ok too, if its important to you that everyone know that you came up with a word to describe some despicable financing arrangement that has caused some problems with other companies with less capable and moralistic management.
And here rests my point. You keep comparing Harken to other companies which fell prey to the (oh,lets call it floorless) financing. Harken isn't Arakis, it has different management, different people. When you buy stock, you are investing in ability and rationale of those people running the company. It isn't just hard assets and numbers. Its ideas, concepts, morals, and personal abilities. These people control how the ship sails. I have said it before, and I will say it again.... management of Harken is first class. And they are first class in the areas I mentioned. Thats why your "floorless" isn't floorless in this instance. I am sorry you can't see beyond your own experiences with companies of less character.
Yes, the buyback is prudent. They are doing what is best for the company and as a result it will be best for the shareholders. They did it FOR the "public small stock holders", because they know more about what is going on than they can say. So rather than "tooting their own horn" with press releases, they simply make a small purchase of their own stock. Its a nice subtle statement, I think. I also think it is a clear message to all stockholders of their self-confidence and belief that the stock is extraordinarily under valued.

I will wager that your "travesty" turns out to be "ingenious". Its already "prudent"!!
Do you want to accept the wager?
Well, I have babbled on. You are a smart guy, Zeev Hed. I have much respect for your insights... but you have to open your eyes and see the intangibles too. Harken has them.
