I would agree with you that the sub-$1000 sector has the potential to become very brutal and cut-throat (maybe more so than the over $1,000) sector (if that's possible ;-) ).. BUT.. I would be willing to bet that Conner has thought about what he is doing. No other maker has so far been able to show they can compete or even bring to market $100 drives (with any real capacity).

The other thing you have to remember is that sub 1K is really a misnomer. It will soon be sub .5k and sub .25k and so on. As the number gets smaller, so must the price of the drive going into those boxes.
