Stitch, you brought another interesting point. In the 20's it was the ticker machines at which the crowds gathered and watched their stocks grow in amazement - much like what the cheerleaders on many threads do today. For that time period, faster news dissemination was made possible by these ticker tape machines which were installed in certain big hotels and some public places. Based on what I read, during the panic times, the ticker fell behind many hours and made the crowds even more nervous. I suppose the net is the closest parallel to that phenomenon. If good news can be spread as fast, so is bad news. When the stampede to the exit doors begins, no timely news is good news.
Good luck!
