Well, we talk about kids lots on Don't Ask Rambi. And tell stories about the absurdity of life. We try very hard to rise above our yuppieness and be real human beings. I thought about what you wrote (But I'm by no means convinced that things are worse now then they ever have been. Every age has its horrors.) and decided that what probably upsets me is that I want to believe we have progressed, gotten a little wiser. All civilizations have their corruptions, their prejudices, their cruelties. It's just discouraging to think we haven't gotten anywhere in all these years. To what would you compare the inner city subculture historically? French Revolution? London in the 1800s? I hope you went with the Proven‡al---a man can never eat too much garlic.
