Nokia to begin manufacture of mobile switching and base station
controllers in China

HELSINKI, Finland--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 14, 1998--Nokia's joint venture
Beijing Nokia Hang Xing Telecommunications Systems Ltd., (BNT) is being expanded
to manufacture Mobile Switching Centres (MSC's) and Base Station Controllers
(BSC's). Nokia currently has six production sites in China, providing
telecommunications infrastructure and mobile phone products, as well as after
sale services. Nokia offers total GSM systems, with everything from digital
mobile phones to transmission and switching,with one of the highest capacity
mobile switches in the market today.

2 questions. When will ericson come out with their hot new
phones, and how much competition do you think they will
be for Nokia?
Second, as we move to the next standard g3 or whatever
who should be well positioned for infrastructure deals with that
standard. Perhaps that's begging the question, but who are the likely
winners?
