Jim, Don't forget to add cheap keyboard, mouse and speakers. Also packaging and box cost. $297 for base system w/16megs ram $10 for keyboard $5 for mouse $5 for speakers $10 for shipping box w/shock absorbing foam $10 for labor to package $337 New total still looks good BUT we still don't have a price for the OS. For fun, let's just throw out a number of $15 for OEM win95. Now you are up to $352 Whoops, we left out shipping cost... better add another $8 as an average cost with minimum insurance per unit. Now you are up to $360 OK, so 10% is still pretty good right? Unfortunately we have to add in service (returns, tech support, etc.)Let's just allocate $10 for returns and $10 for tech support leaving a new cost of $380 or around 5%. Sad but true...
