Ciena story about loss to Lucent is at this link.

I appreciate your comments and in the long run I have faith in Tellabs. I have seen Tellabs stock suffer over the years, but the drops associated with Ciena have made it hard for me to understand. I am not familiar enough with them to have faith yet. Also, its been hard seeing Ciena bad news drop Tlabs from 90s to 50s. Good luck.

Doug,
LOL. I don't know if AT&T is smart enough to encourage that leapfrog..not nearly as forward-thinking as CIEN much less TLAB.

Sincerely,

a pre-,during, & post-divestiture survivor and ex-T employee.LOL

>> If T is smart, a BIG assumption, <<

AT&T is NOT smart. No assumptions needed.

>> it will groom LU for one product and CIEN for the next generation, and allow them to leapfrog each other ad infinitum. <<

That's not practical. It is a nuisance to switch vendors on a regular basis.

>> WSJ said WCOM and Sprint make up 96% of revenue. <<

True, but CIEN is diversifying at an increasing rate.

>> Down the road, CIEN's going to add a huge customer like AT&T or BT or Concert or QWEST, and we'll be off to the races again. <<

Actually I would prefer and expect that CIEN will add a bunch of smaller customers.
