From my experience, that is incorrect. When it goes ex-rights, the symbol for the "with rights" options is changed, and the normal option symbols begin trading ex-rights. If you have a "with rights" contract, you are either obligated to provide or due to receive the rights or their equivalent. I'll stand corrected if someone can illustrate otherwise.

On another note, has the Tellabs merger closed? With all the damage done by Cienna, can Coherent back out?
