LETS GIVE ALL THE FACTS

Sounds like a line I once saw in a cartoon. The response was:

Yeah, I agree - but first let's choose the facts very carefully.

Incidentally, it's hard to accept: ABANDON SHIP, ABANDON SHIP!!!! as one of the most factual academic analysis I have heard today.

IMHO, I own both stocks and think it is really the only way to go. Both methods have merit (1) no frills, short turn around, little overhead vs (2) full service with other revenue streams.

All the garbage about Dell selling down because it will not make the whisper is just what Dell wants to hear - it depresses the whisper number.

Also: making the whisper is not so hip anymore.
Hip is: it's in the call meaning the CEO phone call to subscribers where he details the company's business plans - this overrides the earnings in more and more cases because people are buying on the prospect of future earnings.

The market says you're wrong, Zalesky, as shown by option prices, Compare:

COMPAQ 30 call
Sep 5.00 .5% over parity [34.81]
J99 7.00 6%
J00 10.62 17%

DELL 100 call
Sep 12.13 6% over parity [105.87]
J99 19.87 13%
J00 33.63 26%

The market is far more confident in Dell's appreciation than CPQ

Maybe you better have a Martini, Z!

Zal,

Thanks for the excellent advice. Since CPQ is up a whole half a point and Dell is going to tank some more on Monday I can sell all my CPQ and buy more Dell.

How can I ever thank you enough?

Phil

I'M GOING TO MAKE SOME MONEY!!!!!!!!!

Zalesky! Wrong on three counts! Ouch! Better luck with your predictions next time! We'll go on relying on the fundamentals. <VBG>
