re:C/NET review of iMac. Not very impressive.

Seems like Apple is trying to sell a VERY EXPENSIVE Web terminal. No floppy and no parallel port??? How are people supposed to do basic tasks like word processing at home? But, the box itslef looks good and i'm sure they'll come out with some cool commercials. This strategy could backfire...

Gene,
I had the opportunity to see an iMAC yesterday together with a real live Apple Zealot sent from the factory (I thought Intel Zealots were bad). Very reminiscent of the Black and White screened Mac Classic about 10 years ago...only the iMAC comes in neon color.
Of course they forgot to put in a floppy drive and a socket for a zip drive. When I asked where I could plug in a microphone, the dude showed me a built in microphone. I said I wanted to use a headset with a boom mic, where did I plug in the microphone? Dumbfounded, he
suggested I plug it into a USB port. I asked where I get a mic adaptor with a USB plug? He mumbled and left.
Hard for me to believe Apple still thinks less is better.
