Here is my two cents: Basically, I'm in a no win situation politically. I'm a flaming Democratic social liberal, on the one hand and an extremely conservative Republican economically, on the other hand. I agree with those who say that Clinton is no leader and has done very little for this country. To the liberals, I say Ronald Reagan is the Grandfather of the bull market that started in 1982. The only thing that Clinton did that was positive was keep Greenspan as chairman of the Fed and hire Rubin as Secretary of the Treasury. It is also to Clinton's credit that he has hired Republicans to some Cabinet posts. On the other hand, his attack on the pharmaceutical industry in 93 and his ongoing attack on the tobacco industry is really degenerate liberal garbage, whose intention is to take money from the rich so he could spend more and more and more...... In a way, Clinton represents everything I despise in the liberal economic agenda. Socially speaking, however, I couldn't care less who this guy plays around with or has sex with as long as he is discreet. His personal life is none of my business. Since Richard Nixon, this country has stopped looking up to its Presidents as role models. The fact is that the Republican party has some serious problems and that is why many economic conservatives like myself voted for Clinton in the last election. Most Americans do not like the social conservative platform of the Republican party: it is filled with religious zealots. Now I know this bothers many of you social conservatives, but if you want to recapture the White House in 2000, take heed of Thomas Jefferson's words ( paraphrased ): " it makes no difference to me whether a man believes in one God, many Gods, or no God at all, as long as he neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg". PS. Clinton will survive this and finish out his term. Hopefully, as a Philip Morris shareholder, Congress will turn decidedly more Republican after the Mid-term elections.
