Ben,

Exited LU at 89+ this morning, close enuf to strike 90 for a quick flip. Won't be greedy even though max-pain yielded strike 95. I use max-pain at times for particular stocks, usually just eyeball the likely closing strike at expiry from options OI. How did you select your group of stocks in the study?

I've spent some years building stochastic models for nuclear systems so our backgrounds may be somewhat similar. From experience I found that by examining model variables/parameters separately, I could assess aspects of the subject problem that may be camouflaged as the model convolved the inputs to generate specific metrics. How this relates to stocks and trading is the following .... one can collect various data and abstract a subset that works well for specific stocks, but the qualitative aspects of market sentiment and dynamics seem to defy quantification and require the human element to integrate ... to obtain all signs confirming.
