One article went as far as quoting Jobs in saying that they expect to have 20-40K units of iMacs at the intro.

Eric,

Nice post on Bajarin. He seems to have lost sight of the larger computing marketplace. Perhaps he will broaden his perspective in the future.

What was the date of the Jobs's quote? There has been a lot of recon suggesting that Apple has substantially increased its iMac production capacity. If it is true, then Phil may be conservative on this one??

<<One article went as far as quoting Jobs in saying that they expect to have 20-40K units of iMacs at the intro. (The comment caught my attentions since it seems strange to me that Jobs would give specific numbers like that. I'll post a link to the article when I find it again.) Even if we were to be optimistic and tag on another "tens of thousands" I don't think we're anywhere near the 200K number yet.>>

Well, One thing I tend to believe is that anybody who had preordered
his/her iMac already got it, which means 150,000 units. Did you hear
anybody with preorder hasn't gotten his/her iMac yet?

I don't like Tim's estimates when Apple was in recovery stage last
January, but I would give him a chance to provide any info that is
unavailable elsewhere now. Based on his position and as a long-time
analyst on Apple, he has more connections than we, doesn't he?

Phil
