Hank, I heard that Matt Drudge (can't access his web page)is reporting that the "President Erect's" testimony yesterday was packed with contradictions, lies and perjurous statements. His pathetic attempt to lay blame for the last 7 1/2 months on Ken Starr is laughable. If Drudge is correct than I think theres a better than 50% chance that he will fire Starr before to long. The only thing holding him back is the hope the spineless, gutless representatives will give him a free pass. Maybe when he's over in Russia he'll ask Boris "I will not devalue the Rubble" Yellowstain for asylum.

The American public is tired of this story, the market has responded positively to the "confession" (and if one didn't think he was "guilty" long before last night, they are a bit naive), and if Congress moves to impeach it will be an unpopular move that will backfire come election time. I have no great love for Clinton, but I am tired of this whole thing. It has nothing to do with Whitewater. Bill did what any cheating husband would have done, lie to cover up the affair. If he suborned perjury, it was to cover the affair, not to cover up anything in the Whitewater investigation, which used to be Starr's job. Now Starr thinks he is the defender of the realm by trying to prove that Clinton suborned perjury in a case totally unrelated to Whitewater. It is politically motivated, and that is innappropriate for the special prosecutor. Clinton may be morally bankrupt when it comes to his fidelity, but hey, that's between he and Hillary. I only care about how he runs the country, not his private life. And as for lying to the American people, again, it is his private life. Very few people, even the vast majority of public figures, are asked to explain their private affairs. It is appalling that all of us are so fixated on this guy's infidelity. As we all know, the world has a great deal of bigger issues with which we should all be focused on. Enough of my own soapbox. Peter
