To take a contrarian view... It may be because I'm male, or because I've lived for so long in a country where a politician that doesn't screw everything in sight is considered an aberration. But I really couldn't care less about Bill's Willy. Sure, he lied. Why did anyone ask? Most leaders do the same thing; I suspect it has something to do with the psychology of those who seek positions of prominence, and also with that of those who seek to associate with the prominent. In most countries it is simply assumed that these things are going on; nobody asks questions, nobody hears lies. I'm sure more American presidents have had affairs than not; they never had to lie about it because nobody cared. Reagan and Bush probably didn't, though. Might be a good argument for Presidents of advanced years. My only worry about the whole thing is how people will respond. Hardly a moment to be rocking the boat. Steve

Dearest Christine, The depth of this is hard to take in. Has these flaws caused the death of Foster? Led an illegal campaign using the White House? The latest I have heard is that Paula Jones is going to reopen her case and many, many other women are coming forward about his abuse of them. See the moral fiber of a man is critical in all his dealings. As a child I learned it is not OK to lie about what you did because you were embarassed but the truth is best no matter how painful. I am trying to instill this value in my sons and their President says I lied because I was embarassed by my own behavior. UGH!!! Impeach him is all I can say. This man has the keys to destroy all mankind in seconds and he has to be a person of integrity and enormous self control. Gore does not seem to me to be a much better option but right now I am licking my wounds and would take anything over Clinton. I too think Hillary is the backbone of that family and think she might grieve his loss of Presidency more than the affair #?.ALan and I are shocked at how far America has come. Look at Nixon his crimes were minor by comparison, and Gary Hart was destroyed by an affair before he even ran much less doing it in the Oval office. I think as a woman I feel anger that he has humiliated women for his own pleasure so blatantly and then only faces up when backed in a corner. To bare my deepest thoughts I will say that is why I prefer a man with religous conviction lived out in his life. I like the idea that a man is bowing to a loving God that is the power of the Universe and loves all people. IMO Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter had these qualities and I miss them. I think we need to let go of this monster and just love our kids today for that is the future this will quickly pass away (I hope). I pray the Lord will fill us with His peace today, Nancy P.S. I have seen a little about the Ireland trajedies and would like to know more if you ever want to share. I have been praying and would like to be more specific.
