Well, I realize that Billy is our alpha male and everything, and that chieftans historically have had sexual privileges not enjoyed by the common man.

However, one of the female commentators this evening pointed out that not only did Clinton prey on vulnerable young women who worked for him, in this case he sent his wife, his female Cabinet members and female staff members out to lie for him, over a long period of time. He also has dragged us through a very, very unpleasant seven months.

I think the worst thing that happened to Clinton is that he thought he was such a slick liar after he got away with the Gennifer Flowers thing in '92, that he was invincible. He was wrong, and this is all very dirty. When you think about it, he is a lying, conniving scumbag.

I cannot compare it with the way things are in other countries. This is America, a fairly puritanical, religious culture. While I am not very pious I have a fourteen-year-old daughter, and am attempting to teach her honesty and fidelity and good moral standards. This crisis erodes our collective standards of behavior, and has polluted and compromised the innocence of our children. Clinton is different from our other presidents who had affairs outside of their marriages because he was so reckless that he was unable to keep them at all discreet. Since the Gary Hart debacle American politicians know that press pursues their private lives. Clinton broke the rules knowing what the rules were. You would almost have to conclude that he is stupid, if you don't buy the tragic explanation.

Dear Steve:

This will be my last post of the night. (I had thought I was finished before reading this one of yours.)

Along with Clinton, you have let me down tonight. With this observation about the current American situation.

-Plentiful sex play has been a hallmark of all powerful men throughout the history of all our races. Including popes.

What makes Clinton different is his awareness of the delicacy of his personal situation. If you were not here for his being run over the coals in 1992 for Bimbos, you have missed the significance of this.

He is in the White House. And he consciously dallies with a bimbo one time. Then over and over again. It is maniacal. It displays a defiance or a stupidity that is highly abnormal, not heroic. I, personally, did not believe it was true till this evening. It is the extreme of absurdity. It has nothing to do with the sex act. It is the ignoring or the denying of what he knew were the forces out to get him. I have lost all respect for one so overconfident or over-dumb.

And Reagan was married and divorced and the second marriage had a 7-month child in it. And Bush had a stewardess-type doing his deeds for him.

This has nothing to do with intelligence. It has to do with no strategy, or lousey tactics, for Clinton.

With, otherwise, undying respect, George
