Ongoing effort to read press releases too closely:

Take a look at the "About Wave Systems Corp." slug near the end of today's press release. This is the first time I have noticed its including language like this:

"Embedded in PC hardware and peripherals, [the chip-based Wave system] becomes the foundation for client-based security applications and a new distribution and purchasing model for content and services. This low-cost, secure 'system-within-a-system' will enable the personal computer to assume an important new role in the evolving digital economy."

Also, I just reviewed Andrew's notes from the conference call of December 18, 1997, about the IBM announcement. See:

Message 2999096.

Included is this interesting entry:

"Brings a center of gravity -- People will want to hang their systems off of this -- Will help bring stability to the conversation."

Best wishes.
