Jean, Apple lovers are all descended from doctrinaire socialists.

To give Apple credit they took the Parc ideas and did something. xerox was so stupid that the upper manglers looked down on the best creations their center had made, the reason it was created, and ignored them.
Others like Gates also did better things, even beating Apple at their own game.

To also give Apple full credit for their fall from grace. They had it all and they burned it(share) to the smallness we see today. I feel they will stay a niche unless they get some broad movement going.
By that I mean a cloning approach under control, but it may be too late and they will stay a niche and fade away over time, or get eaten for lunch.

Bill

Jean - Re: "I will never buy a MAC again. Viva Wintel My new P2-400, with WIN98 Kicks serious butt !! "

Your response helps explain Apple's very low market share.

Apple required people to undergo a religious conversion to the MAC - many did - many more did not.

Well, let's see if they can mount a comeback.
