Some good news...

Motorola's CIG announced a $220mm contract with GlobalTelecom of Brazil for a CDMA system to be deployed in southern Brazil. Deployment begins immediately with commercial operation scheduled for October. 14mm people line in the region and it is considered Brazil's third most affluent area.

Gee..I thought Marc Cabi has said that Brazil was going to go IS-136? This release, in concert with Qualcomm's announced handset factory in Brazil, strongly suggest that NEC (QC's partner in the market) should be announcing some infrastructure business shortly. I would note that MOT also announced a significant CDMA network expansion in Peru. Looks like our technology is doing pretty darn south of the border.

Best regards,

Gregg
