Michael,

Are there any educational software packages you would particularly recommend for preschool kids? My 2 1/2 year old isn't quite ready for them yet, but she will be soon. She just started at a Montessori school, and loves it. On weekend mornings she wanders around demanding "school! school!", and gets upset when there isn't any.

Anyway, software selections here are minimal, so I have to order from the US, which makes it important to get good recommendations before choosing. Would appreciate any you have.

My 8 year old (just started grade 3) spent his years from 4-7 in a remote mountain area, and made tremendous verbal progress, in several languages. It was partly because we read and told stories nightly, but I'm convinced that the single greatest factor was the complete absence of TV. The kids there talked, told stories, and described things as other kids I've known don't. It really makes a difference. No way to put the genie back in the bottle, though, at least as far as I can see...
