ta, I REALY ENJOY YOUR POSTS, I HAVE A Question though.. When trading methods, become the rules, or shall i say the strategy.. i would be afraid that these methods would no longer apply, because of the many traders that apply them... I hope someone could comment on this point.

on another issue, i am experimenting with a 18 dma strategy on a 15 min chart, i am seeing a pretty consistent move to the upside when a stock closes above the 18dma. has anyone used this indicator?

john

p.s tomorrow i am using the 18dma with amd, which closed strong above it today bought at close

and CUBE also closed above it, looking for a quick run on both of these in morning or gap open on AMD..bought on 50 dma breakout

my 2cents

paper trade untill you build up enough confidence to trade and make unemotional trades

TATRADER:Good Post! You sound like Jeff Cooper. Are you basing this strategy on sequential pattern analysis or other? Do you Day Trade or Position Trade?

Thanks!

Tat...i like your use of the system, but wouldn't be willing to commit to it or any system without proper back testing, and forward testing.

A couple of questions:

1. Could you elaborate on the policy behind your strategy, how you came up with the numbers, the number of ticks, etc.?
2. Do you have any data, backtesting results that would substantiate the numbers?

I love looking at strategies....also, was this yours or someone elses?
Thanks

**anyone know of some software program that lets me generate documents in various languages (particularly chinese). I would assume it must include some template for the keyboard etc. Any help is greatly appreciated.

TT, thanks for sharing the strategy.
Would you define what you mean by two ticks?
Are you actually finding the hi-lo intraday and counting two ticks or do you mean ____ what?
Thanks, stx

Mark:

Do you use any software to screen for stocks meeting the criteria for the Gap Strategy or Delayed Gap Strategy? Also, does anyone have an idea on how many stocks per day meet this kind of criteria?

Quoting from TraderAlan's post...
<When (many traders are) trading similar methods... I would be afraid that these methods would no longer apply, because of the many traders that apply them>

Two comments. First, traders fail because they don't follow the rules they themselves created and allow impulse to overcome methodology.

I would add that IF several traders were using the same strategy on the same stocks, the FIRST trader that hits the trade will benefit from the subsequent buying from the slower traders. => It would appear to be an ideal trading system for automation (i.e. clearly defined, speed important). Have you ever considered automating this system, or variations of it?
