Or why ever tell the truth under oath? If you believe the apologists, perjury rarely is prosecuted.

He'll be gone within a year. Guaranteed.

<<all I know is that if MY BOSS was caught having some kind of "improper relations" with a staff member ON COMPANY PREMISES... he'd be fired in a HEARTBEAT... as would ALL of your bosses as well..>>

As Trent Lott said, "get real." Where do you work, the Christian Coalition?? There's more sex going on in the workplace than there is at the rent-by-the-hour rooms in Times Square. I hate all these self-righteous holier-than-thou pundits and politicians talking about morals and values and all that BS. Notice that hypocritical lotharios like Newt and his cronies have kept their fat mouths shut because they've probably had more p*ssy in the "secret" offices in the Capitol building than the local ASPCA. Recall that Bob Packwood forcibly fondled and french kissed aides in his own offices against their will and still the Senate could not muster the majority needed to censure him. I can't wait until they have their first public hearing and the first question to be asked by a Democrat with some cojones (Maxine Waters?)would be "Why don't we all go around the room with my colleagues and have us each answer whether we've had "inappropriate relations" outside of your marriage. And remember, you can each be investigated by the Ethic Committee for lying to Congress." I would love to suddenly hear all the hemming and hawing about "privacy" "witchhunts" "fishing expeditions" that would occur by those gluttonous hypocrites if they were forced to own up to their own actions. Yes, let's all just grow up a little and realize that FDR had a lifelong honey on the side with Eleanor's apparent approval; that Ike had an "aide-de-camp" that served more than just a presidential function; that JFK bedded anything that moved; that Bush took a special assistant on foreign trips; that Francois Mitterand had a whole secret family during his entire political life.

what makes the Presidency so special that he can admit to it and not be fired???

Hi, Jim...a good question and it deserves an answer:

Article II, Section 4 of the US Constitution says:

"The President...shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of , Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors"
