That's what I think too. Any way you cut it, Lycos is coming on strong and is undervalued in terms of internet plays while Amazon.com is having to restructure their thinking and paying dearly for it and is extremely over-valued. If you think that the internet sector is going to go up but not nearly as much as in the past few months, then buying Lycos and selling short on Amazon.com makes a good deal of sense. Even those who are bullish on Amazon.com should wait to see if the company is able to change to the new internet e-commerce lanscape and continue to grow sales and at least keep to a plan on the amount of expected losses they will incur. If they do more wild acquisitions, sales continue to slow and losses continue to increase, then maybe it's time to admit that Amazon.com has lost the race and will sink deeper into debt as the competition outshines them.
