Comments From Prudential Securities Analyst on Stock Price Etc Wednesday August 19, 1998 (2:30 pm EST) Prudential Downgrades LSI Logic Following Earnings Announcement NEW YORK, Aug. 19 (Standard & Poor's) - LSI Logic (LSI16 1/16 DOWN 2 3/16) said it sees third quarter earnings in the low- to mid-teens. The company cited lower than anticipated order input during the first six weeks of the third quarter. Prudential downgraded the stock to hold from accumulate. Analyst Hans Mosesmann told his salesforce that LSI's management preannounced weak revenues based on slower than expected bookings. Mosesman said he's concerned that LSI has tremendous production capacity coming on line both internally and from the company's pending Symbios acquisition. The Prudential analyst expects LSI to trade down to the $13-$14 level and says he would maintain his hold recommendation in that price range.
