Pruguy: You are indeed right about relative details. However TECH stocks do trade below book. As an example look at MTL over a period of 20 yrs. It was as low as a dollar from a high of 25 ,now trading at near 15 or so.

Nothing is impossible at the hands of an Investor.

One stock that is trading below book value that comes to mind is Brooks Automation (BRKS).

Information on BRKS:

Current Price = $9.75
52 week range = 8 3/8 - 41 1/8
Book Value = $12.89
Long Term Debt = $100,000
Cash and Equivalents = $65,500,000
Cash per Share = $6.48
Price/Book = .76
Price/Sales = 1.0

This is the best example I can find of a company in no financial danger falling below their book value. It's a good thing they have $6.48 or they could be even lower.
