Not to stick my nose where it doesn't belong, but before you start throwing stones at Andrew you might want to check out this post:

I can see how something like this might make him a little gun shy.
(Please correct me, Andrew, if this isn't the misinterpretation you're referring to, and I'll consider myself duly squelched.)

Regarding Ubeam, I haven't heard much about it, good or bad, from UTEK. That's a little odd, given that it was the shooting star of the company this time last year. I do know that Canon gave up on the (formerly Lepton) technology after three years and fairly vast sums of money: bringing out a tool that can compete with ETEC is a little more complicated than just asking Art Z. to wave his magic wand.

I am a very ardent supporter of UTEK and have been for years. I wanted to discuss some general lithography trends with Carl and see no reason for anyone to be put off by the public request. I do not do things in dark alleys or behind people's backs. In retrospect, I would actually like to converse with him on the General Lithography Thread so that topics not pertinent to UTEK do not clutter up this thread.

I think you should read a good number of my prior posts on this thread to better understand my position and opinions of this company.

If you want the comments to be retracted, consider it retracted. It still will not chnage my opinion or my perception. The Ultrabeam is in operation at PLAB but it has not been fully utilized due to the industry downturn. Therefore, it has not proven itself to be a workhorse.

Problems do not necessarily mean system functionality or capability. Problems include other things as well. I will not trash this stock in public nor will I falsely project a Mary Sunshine, all is well, attitude. The industry is in a downturn and everyone is feeling some pain. As this downturn becomes more protracted, you see further pushouts and cancellation of programs.

If INTC is the only one that has formally announced a move to 0.18u and most of the industry has yet to implement and ramp up 0.25u device production, what do you believe the chances are of seeing increased shipments of advanced mask making tooling equipment such as the Ultrabeam???
