Hello, George. It's me. It may be that penni, as many others, like their heroes to have a certain depth of intelligence and thoughtfulness, but I would counter with the inimitable Rambi. (No offence if I'm wrong, penni) I haven't noticed Rambi to be imbued with a great deal of intellectual and/or moral depth, but mess with the wrong person and there she is with her uzi spraying gummi bears. And a finer hero than Rambi one could not find, and she's cute, too.

Wait-I'm way behind having stopped to play with Rambi. You're confusing my heroes-no-you're confusing me. Why do I think the doughboy is not a hero?
What does blotting out a machine gun enplacement mean? Did he sacrifice his life to save others? What does mythology have to do with it? I don't think I limited heroism to any particular type of action--except to say that a heroic quest involves morality.
Maybe it's that damn semantics stuff again!
