Cienna has been a one trick pony, point-to-point wdm, with a limited product line that did not include other networking gear, SONET ect... Noam stated in the last c.c. that Dynamic DWDM is expected to be a 6 billion $$$ market by the year 2001, IP terabit routers will be an additional 20 billion $$$ market... MRVC is already selling to CLECs which account for approx. 18% of current biz, & Noam stated that in the future they obviously expect a 'significant' increase, as the 'fiber driver' portion of MRVz biz grows from the current 22% breakout for its 'optical switches' portion of revs. From a story on Cienna's problems & what is needed..."One step toward making premium systems is building something called an optical switch along with DWDM products. An optical switch flashes light signals across networks without converting them back into slow electronic pulses along the way." Surely, as MRV has announced plans to aggressively pursue the integration of its networking/fiber expertise into commercial products, & has demonstrated a consistent & proven history of 'delivering the goods', of meeting or exceeding revenue expectations, of recognizing, purchasing, & integrating, key elements of technologies & personnel, of developing a global optical/networking engineering, support, & sales team, MRV has uniquely positioned itself to benefit from the GARGANTUAN market growth in Dynamic DWDM, Gigethernet, Terabit routers, & VPN's all over the next several years... MRV is a business model dream, they've got major mojo going into the next century... If MRV delivers its announced products & capture even a small share or these markets the company will grow very quickly into a billion dollar a year co. Where else can you get such an outstanding value/opportunity in todays market? The alternative? Well, go ask the hubris filled Pink... Regis
