Addi,
I think you made a good buy today. If things really get ugly LSI might touch 12, but let's face it, unless bankruptcy looms we are scraping bottom. The only question is how long before things recover, and how strongly.

Good luck,
John

PS - As others on the thread have mentioned, if LSI gets much cheaper I do think it will be looked at as a takeover target. That will also tend to put a floor under the stock.

Addi :

But then again each time I buy it seems I prove to myself that my level of stupidity has increased also!

It must be an infectious disease because I, too, am reaching a level of stupidity of truly impressive proportions! While I didn't buy more today, I'm sure this annoying lucid moment will pass shortly.

p.s. maybe we should resurrect the old title--Sleek Lions Club/SLC as I recall?

Let's hope you're right on dollar averaging right now, Addi. I'd hate to think of you having to commute to the valley from Gilroy... long drive and the mild reek of garlic on everything you own <g>.

I know you have a long term committment (emotional attachment?) to LSI, and that you aren't trying to "time" the market. But, don't you think it might be best ( particularly for those of us whose wives critique our portfolios) to wait for the next quarterly report on 10/22 before jumping back in? I can't imagine that lsi will run away from us before then, since they are under the dark cloud of an earnings warning, and I don't expect overall market conditions to improve very much until October/November. Besides the Symbios portion of the equation will be clearer by then. I know in 2 years, it won't make a lick of difference, but I don't see any need for haste just now.

The ASIC business seems to have a awkward business model: The more advanced your technology is, the less profit potential you have. I have long considered VTI and LSI to be the two best in this sector. If they can't get good returns, what is this industry all about?
