I just got back from taking Ammo and his best friend to the movies (had to sign to get them in--some terrible Vampire movie-I said what am I signing? What bad thing are you seeing-Brian said, "It's ok, Mrs. Westbrook, it's not bad--it's just really violent")
On the way we were talking about "the war". And I sat horrified because these two 15 year olds talked about wanting to fight for their country. "People fought for us. So we need to fight for the next generation." I thought I would die. MY generation had Vietnam and we lost all idealism, I guess. I hate war. And the thought of my boys fighting makes me truly ill. So I thought it was intriguing that they still have gotten some feeling of romance and patriotism about it all. At 15--I dunno-maybe it still has the feel of a Heroic Quest??? Haven't talked to my young cynic yet. CW I'm sure will have a unique viewpoint that involves making him king of the world.
(Alcohol is about to be involved)

Geez guy, thanks.

I wound up in Germany. I did walk into the recruiters and signed up Dec. 24 1968. Volunteered for the draft. Same crapshoot as the regular draft. So many people being drafted I couldn't with any moral conscience stay out of the Army. Had two deferments.Got my shots for Vietnam then got the same shots for Germany. We were scheduled for Vietnam but the European defense was under cut so got changed. Luck, thank God.
