I think there is more than enough reason for hope. There are currently over 500 members of Congress and I suspect if most of them were guilty of the unscrupulous and quite possibly illegal activities perpetrated by the Clinton administration their opposition on the local level would jump at the chance to bring these activities out into the open. The problem is there are people out there who will use the "everyone does it" defense to obfuscate the truth of those illegalities.

I for one do not share your view that there aren't quite a few people on both sides of the aisle who could run for President and follow the rules of law to get elected. I don't recall Bob Dole being accused of any of the transgressions indicative of the Clinton crowd. I also suspect that any other candidate in the Democrat primary of '92 could easily fit the bill. On the GOP side regardless of whether you agree with their policies I don't see these things happening to John Ashcroft, John McClain (sp?), Trent Lott or even Orrin Hatch for that matter. Perhaps they didn't run in 1996 because they didn't want to jump into the Clinton hog pen and wallow around with him.
