Well the Dickster went and did it, uniting in spirit if not politically the Islamic states. Too bad he didn't have enough time in the Oval Bedroom to read the Art of War which most wall street traders have mastered by now.

Almost certainly the next attack will not be an embassy or airport terminal or bomb in an airplane. One must read the Art of War to understand this. More than likely a Webb Hubbell clone stands ready at the border, for a small fee of course, to look the other way as a nuke moves silently to be deposited in NY City. Kiss the bull market goodbye. Kiss real estate values in all major US cities goodbye as the public finally realizes the gravity of the situation. The wealth of America taken down in only a few weeks.

Hypothetical , yes. Possible, yes. Probable, I don't know the odds. But in war the underdog usually has some strategic advantages. One is the anger of its oppenents leader which was demonstrated in the speech monday night.

This administration can't keep drugs out, much less freon; where is the confidence to keep out Stingers and Nukes. Notice the media rushing to display the poll results instead of focusing on the true reality. Imagine if Germany attacked us because several German citizens were murdered at Disney World.

The correct response would be to fight a terrorist covertly; unfortunately this would not give a polling opportunity for the press. Indeed if the administration really believes as it says that a new warfare type has erupted, it will deploy in a new fashion, covertly. Tomahawks don't stand ready at the porous borders of the USA.

Only Nukes, no way. Stinger missles can be deployed 1-2 miles from any major world airport, ready to down a US carrier. I would purposely avoid these for the next several months while the administration and congress focus on spending billions on old tech surveillance devices at airports. Good for a few polling % points. Too bad they don't remember the Magniot Line.

Everyone on this thread should read the Art of War. You would call for sealing the borders immediately. So congratulations to the Dickster. Now he can play the hand of polls.

What kind of world do we live in anyway?

Regards,

Anyer

You are correct. I have never seen nor known any Senator, whether single term or multi-terms, who have not become multi millionaires after they leave the office. But that is o.k. in my book, as long as they don't come out billionaires.

It would be hard, I agree, to be as unscrupulous as Clinton and Gore. But the amount of money needed to run for president simply can't be raised without giving something away. Why does the tobacco industry give so much money? Why do the teachers unions give so much money? The trial lawyers? They expect something. If they don't get what they expected, they won't give again, and those they elected will die on the vine.

The only permanent way to get out of this mess is to radically reduce the power of the federal government. Move as many functions as possible to the local level, where we can keep an eye on our politicians. As long as the federal government has the amount of money and power it does, and as you point out there are only 500 people to influence (not thousands as at the local level), and it costs so much to win an election, a person of true principles who refuses to compromise those principles for a campaign contribution will be totally unable to be elected. That was my basic point.

I'm afraid I believe too much in the (is it really a) joke that we have the best Congress money can buy.
