<My opinion: too bad Adaptec was so greedy. They charged too much for SCSI for too long ($300 for an I/O adaptor card - give me a break! Entire SCSI mobo's don't cost that much.) and allowed EIDE to almost reach parity. If they had dropped the price to match EIDE 4 years ago, they would have eliminated it due to superior technology. Now Firewire threatens to do them both in, though it is too early to tell how that will play out. Another Sony & Beta story in the making. >

I agree entirely. The cost of the SCSI interface kept me from pursuing certain video editing on my home computer. Support from ADPT was poor and they charged extra for software which I thought should have been supplied with the hardware.
