" Good point... Apple is already shipping systems with FireWire as a built to order option in its desktop Macs. Who is pushing the technology? Apple will integrate Firewire and USB onto the motherboard in its next major update of the Pro G3 line expected around Nov-Jan time frame. Intel backed away from its original plan to integrate Firewire onto the motherboard and is now taking the wait and see approach. Who is pushing the technology? Apple's new iMac adopted USB for all peripheral expansion devices. Who is pushing the technology? Apple, IBM, and Motorola implemented RISC processor, 0.25 micron, in high volume personal computers before Intel. IBM just began producing G3s (PowerPC 750) using 0.22 micron technology in volume. They will implement copper interconnect, and SOI in mass produced microprocessors 1-2 years before Intel. Samples of these chips have already been delivered and volume delivery and system based on these chips are expected in Q4 98-Q1 99. Who is pushing the technology? Eric
