Bill, the way I disagree with the NRA is that I don't believe the answer to lowering the incidence of gun violence in America has to do with stricter penalties for criminals who use guns in the commission of crimes. It is not a bad idea to put people like that in jail and throw away the key. However, we have the highest per capita incarceration rate among "civilized" nations already. If putting people in jail worked that well, we would have almost no crime at all by now!! I just meant that in addition to stiff penalties for committing crimes with guns, I believe we need to reduce drastically the number of guns in America.
