Regarding Waterhouse, I have lost so much money because of their system that I am probably going to file some kind of action against them, either legal action or a complaint with the SEC.

Have you also noticed that every time you talk to somebody on the customer service line you get a new a different rule about the way things are? In my experience, Waterhouse's online system is designed to make themselves as much $$ as possible, and the customer be damned.

that is a great story, and a profitable lesson. I will check with them to see if a simple phone call alleviates that stressor.

i ALSO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM THAT YOU HAD AT WATERHOUSE BUT I LOST 1500 DOLLARS BY THE TIME I ARRIVED AT MY OFFICE AT 3:30. I sold 300 ca twice and ended up short 100 shares. That day i thought i had 100 shares long but they said i was short. The stock went up 5 dollars and Waterhouse said too bad that the canceled order did not report until 2 hours later!
