I'm not sure if I completely understand your first question. TLAB has a big business is cross-connects, a layer of the networking architecture that is being eliminated. If ATM and WDM can connect directly (as ASND has recently demonstrated), who needs TLAB? <g>

IMHO, ATM has a great future in the WAN backbone. Some, like Qwest, are trying to build a pure IP network, but I suspect they will need ATM eventually, to allocate their bandwidth when the network becomes congested. Most backbones, like Williams and AT&T, are being built with an ATM core. ATM has been the subject of heated debate over the years, though. Do you have any thoughts?
