If a securities trader makes the mark-to-market election, all trading gains and losses become ordinary, not just the gains and losses from positions held at the end of the year. Of course, you can still have capital gains and losses from positions you properly identify as investments that are not part of your trading activity.

Thanks for the comments on my web site. I'm hoping to sell it for $33 million some day.
