Celeron A, Still a joke???

intel.com
intel.com
When you compare Intels benchmarks for Celeron A 300 and 333 vs the Celeron A-300 is not as fast as a PII-233 and the Celeron A 333 is not as fast as a PII-266.
Not sure if the systems were the same since you have to go to two pages to get them. I'm anxious to see if the Cel A will overclock.
According to Intel the Celeron A's may not be what I thought they would be. Rather a dissappointment.
The K6-2 sphere.impress.co.jp
is still the better deal but I'll wait for some independent reviews before passing final judgement on the Celeron A.

Gary, I was refrring to the new one to be released today, benchmarked already? With 128K full speed cache it should be as fast as a pentium -II 350, or nearly so. Since cache hits tail off exponentially as cache gets bigger most gains are in the first 64K and by the time you reach 512 going to 1M will give only a % or so. 128K should give 90% hit rate and since it is twice as fast it could overcome a 333 P-II with 512K, unless the heart is different in some way and is not a real P-II ??
