That may be, but solving this quickly is in both companies' best interests. In many wayws TLAB/CSCO might make an interesting combination should it pass muster w/antitrust authorities.

I'd be surprised if a company like NT were to throw in the towel, having begun an investment in DWDM, they may want to see it through before going on an expensive buying binge. My main point re valuation is CIEN is wounded. Multiple bidders or not, you rarely get top dollar in that circumstance. It's like a house that needs repairs that is in escrow and would otherwise go out to bid at an auction. You're better off finishing the escrow you've started than taking your chances on the open market in most cases.
