Scott,

I have a little tick counter that is basically neutral now..
Yesterday it was mostly minus with my other stuff moving up
so I looked for a up move. and it worked..

Now my other stuff is overbot, I am flat BTW.. Today I am
looking for up on the tick counter. and it stays positive
awhile.. no real up on the futures and my other stuff stays overbot
and weakening.. then I will short when the tick counter heads down..

In other words I am looking to short..

Scott:

Here is a short term position trade I initated this morning --- I posted in on the Z but thought you might be interested ......
I know how much TT, Pat, and you love postion trading ----

MTC (Monsanto) is close to closing out it's merger with DLP (Delta PineLand) ----

AHP (American Home Products) is in the process of merging with MTC -----

within the past 2 days MTC has seen a fairly good pop in stock price up of 6 bucks due to FDA agreement to put a Cox 2 arthritis med on fast track approval ---- meaning that subject to FDA approval Celebra could hit the pharmacy shelf early 1999
AHP price has followed suit, due to it's potential merger with MTC
------ since the announcement of AHP/MTC these two are up a respective 19+% and 13+% ------

DLP has failed to follow as rapidly and here are the figures for the proposed merger with MTC ----
1) --- merger happens before AHP/MTC merger ---- .8625 shares of MTC for each share of DLP
2) ---- merger happens after AHP/MTC merger ---- .99125 shares of the new AHP/MTC company

based on DLP current price of 49 this makes the following situation ---

MTC is selling currently at 63.25

1) buying MTC for about than 54 1/2
2) buying AHP/MTC for about 57.5

I've already done it .......

A similar message was posted early this morning on the MTC thread while I was on the phone with my broker but the figures are/have changed -----

.......
the entire situation depends upon both mergers taking place but it has a good deal of merit in my eyes .... for a position trade .... short term ...

Regards ---- Nemer
