Hi Bob-

I'll make a wild guess that you inadvertently had the Sell button active instead of the Buy button on the first screen of the Trade dialog. Your Notepad record should tell the tale. If it's more complicated than a mistake, I defer to Tom or Bob Norman. At least they won't guess.

Bruce

Hi Bob, I see that Bruce has already sent along one possible answer. Here's another. You could be using a very low Buy Resistance value or even a negative value. This will also speed up AIM's buying and add to Mr. L's "pump the brakes" aspect.

Remember that every time you buy, you add half the value of the buy order to the Portfolio Control value. As PC goes up, it changes the whole buy/sell range. If you are buying with a very low SAFE value (Buy Resistance) you are advancing PC faster than Mr. L originally felt was advisable.

I've found that very low BETA stocks (using Value Line's numbers) can be quite volatile as well. Beta of 1.0 performs like the market. Higher or lower performs an exaggeration of the market or in the opposite direction. That's why I also check Value Line's "Stock Price Stability" index as well (found in the lower right hand corner of the page). Either low or high BETA along with low price stability gives AIM a good chance of working its show. Moderate BETA and high stability will bore many AIM investors to tears. All of that is academic, however, since AIM will tell you when to buy and sell.

Best regards, Tom
